2025 Cupra UrbanRebel EV

Cupra’s third all-electric production car, the UrbanRebel, will be available in dealerships in 2025. It features a dramatic design that nods to Cupra’s billing as the Volkswagen Group’s accessible performance brand.

While Cupra’s original concept emphasized racing as the brand’s core value, the model unveiled today is a much more accurate preview of the car available for purchase in three years. The Volkswagen Group is set to release three entry-level EVs, which are technically identical. The first of these is the UrbanRebel, closely followed by its siblings from Volkswagen and Skoda.

The three cars are a replacement for the Volkswagen E-Up, Skoda Citigo-e iV, and Seat Mii Electric. They are entry-level cars into their respected manufacturers’ electric vehicle line-ups. The long-awaited trio of electric vehicles will start at around €20,000 (£17,000). This makes them some of the most affordable mainstream EVs available for purchase.

Cupra confirmed that UrbanRebel would be a premium vehicle that will cost more than its Volkswagen and Skoda siblings – potentially by as much as £25,000. This is in line with Cupra’s more upmarket brand positioning. Martorell, Spain, the new factory, will produce the three new EVs. These vehicles will be based on the MEB EV platform used by many VW Group EVs.

The UrbanRebel is a close match for the Ford Fiesta Active in size, measuring 4036mm long by 1975mm wide and 1576mm tall. The car sits 218mm off the ground, much higher than the 2021 ultra-low concept. This will improve visibility and make it easier to get in and out of the car.

Cupra’s design is defined by its two ‘tension lines’ on the bonnet, the muscular creases along the sides, and the blacked-out A-pillar. As we got to know from Autocar, the Cupra UrbanRebel can go from 0 to 62 mph in just 6.9 seconds with a maximum output of 231bhp. No official battery capacity has been released yet, but the UrbanRebel is still said to be capable of an impressive range of 273 miles.

The UrbanRebel’s interior is designed with a floating center console in mind. The console is made of copper-colored materials and dominates the cabin. The steering wheel controls are inspired by gaming consoles to give the driver a more immersive experience. Ambient lighting in the cabin is purple to give it a more futuristic feel.
